Gallipoli continues to shed viewers as The Block improves with room reveal

Gallipoli_TV_SeriesGallipoli has continued to shed viewers following Nine’s decision to begin to “burn” the under-performing series last week. Last night the first episode at 9pm pulled just 450,000 metro viewers, down from last week’s metro audience of 479,000. Episode two dropped further to 353,000 down from 373,000 who tuned in last week, according to preliminary overnight figures from OzTam.

It was easily out-rated by Seven’s Revenge despite that show also declining from 661,000 metro viewers last week to 639,000.

The poor performance of Gallipoli saw Nine’s audience share drop to 17.6 per cent as Seven pulled away with a share of 23.4 per cent. The ABC were not too far behind Nine with a share of 15.9 per cent as Ten settled for a share of 13.6 per cent.

My Kitchen Rules easily won the night with a metro audience of 1.554m, down from last week’s audience of 1.649m viewers. It was the most watched show across all the demographics and easily beat its reality television rivals with Nine’s The Block: Triple Threat grabbing a metro audience of 902,000, well up on last week’s audience of 723,000. For the show’s room reveal the audience swelled to 926,000. The room reveal was the second most watched show across all the demographics with the rest of The Block the third most watched show.

Both shows easily out-rated Ten’s I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here which entered finals week with 688,000 metro viewers tuning in to see cricket legend Merv Hughes booted from the jungle. The rest of the show had a metro audience of 682,000.

Meanwhile on the ABC, 7.30 pulled a metro audience of 816,000 as Australian Story at 8pm was watched by 833,000. Four Corners at 8.30pm had an audience of 698,000 while Media Watch at 9.20pm grabbed an audience of 717,000. The first all female Q&A panel grabbed a metro audience of 727,000 at 9.30pm.

The return of Lateline saw 54,000 metro viewers tune into the program on ABC News 24 at 9.30pm, with 362,000 metro viewers tuning in on the ABC at 10.30pm.

In news, Nine News at 6pm won the night with an audience of 1.097m before dropping to 1.062m at 6.30pm. Seven News at 6pm was watched by 993,000, dropping to 975,000 at 6.30pm.
