Guardian Australia appoints Fairfax’s Tereza Alexandratos as commercial operations director

Tereza Alexandratos, Fairfax’s director of digital commercialisation, is set to depart the company to join Guardian Australia as commercial operations director.

Alexandratos has been with Fairfax for five years, joining as advertising director of automotive, before becoming director of digital commercialisation in July 2013.

In her role at Fairfax, Alexandratos works on the commercial executive team, shaping commercial strategy.

Her new role will involve overseeing Guardian Australia’s data strategies, programmatic advertising, and advertising operations.

She will supervise Guardian Labs, the branded content studio, production and delivery.

Commenting on her appointment, Alexandratos said she looked forward to optimising and growing new revenues for the publisher.

“I’m very excited to join Guardian Australia, I have long admired their quality, independent journalism,” Alexandratos said.

Ian McClelland, chief executive at Guardian Australia, welcomed Alexandratos to the team.

“She is an industry leader and brings a wealth of publishing and advertising experience. Tereza’s role will be vital as we grow and optimise Guardian Australia’s data, programmatic, consumer revenue and campaign delivery capabilities,” McClelland said.

Alexandratos will report directly into McClelland and work closely with Tony Bell, national sales director.

She commences in November.

The appointment comes a day after Fairfax unveiled its new commercial strategy for its metro division.
