Home and Away webisodes introduce new characters

Channel Seven and Yahoo!7 will introduce two Home and Away characters in exclusive online episodes available immediately after the television broadcast on Wednesday.

Sydney, Australia, August 6, 2013 – Seven Network and Yahoo!7 today announced the premiere of a new Home and Away storyline through exclusive webisodes: Home and Away Extras. In a first for the show, new characters The Barrett brothers will be introduced online before they appear on-air, with the first webisode available on Wednesday, August 7, directly following the 7.00pm (AEST) broadcast of Home and Away.

Home and Away Extras has been designed to engage and excite the fan base of Australia’s favourite drama. The webisodes will be supported by exclusive online content; cast interviews and social media teasers intended to drive audience hype and tune-in to the storyline introduction on Tuesday, August 27.

Lucy Addario, Series Producer at Home and Away, said, “We wanted to provide fans with new ways to engage with one of Australia’s longest running and most loved television brands. We’re going to reveal dramatic details of the characters’ back-stories before they are introduced as a major storyline.”

Maintaining Home and Away’s high standards, the webisodes have been written by Supervising Script Producer, Louise Bowes, directed by Danny Raco ex-cast member and current Home and Away Director as well as shot by D.O.P Tony Gardiner.

The Barrett brothers – Andy (Tai Hara) and Josh (Jackson Gallagher) hail from Mangrove River and as the webisodes are set to reveal there’s a shared history, explosive secrets and bad blood with The River Boys.

A new episode of the Home and Away Extras will premiere online on Wednesday, August 7, directly following the 7:00pm (AEST) broadcast of Home and Away. It will continue every week for four weeks culminating on Monday, August 26 with the new characters joining the prime time broadcast the same week.
