Broadcast Traffic Manager

The Traffic team is a specialist division within the National Sales Team, responsible for the scheduling and management of inventory to ensure revenue opportunities are maximised, client placement and material expectations are delivered as agreed and legal requirements are satisfied in the creation of daily commercial schedules. These schedules are provided to the Network Presentation team in a format ready for release to the Network Playout Centre (NPC) for broadcast.

Job Description:
As the manager of the Melbourne Traffic Department, you will be responsible for managing the daily running of the Melbourne Traffic Team. You will also be ensuring all commercial inventory is scheduled correctly & ready for telecast as per requirements agreed between the National Sales Team, Clients & Agencies and in line with Network Traffic policies.

-Manage the Melbourne Traffic staff members and their daily tasks
-Recruit, train & develop new staff members
-Accurately produce the daily commercial transmission schedule as per our schedule production deadlines and applying material instructions where necessary
-Service the Network Sales Team’s commercial requirements
-Liaise with numerous internal and external stakeholders
-Ensure all schedules and material application adheres to the requirements of the Television Code of Practice and any further directions from ClearAds
-Assist Network Sales with late bookings and produce amendments due to these late changes
-Complete the previous days reconciliation – Debrief
-Work closely with your Network peers and provide support to other markets and the Network Traffic Manager when required

Essential experience & skills:
-Minimum 3 years’ experience working in a Broadcast Traffic Department.
-Proven management and leadership skills
-High degree of accuracy
-Adherence to schedules and deadlines
-Exceptional attention to detail
-Ability to work in a fast pace/constantly changing environment
-Highly motivated professional team member who can respond to challenges with a positive attitude
-Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
-Understanding of how a commercial television station operates and the roles of each department
-Extensive knowledge of the Commercial Television Code of Practice
-Microsoft Office software

Desirable experience & skills:
-Any Diplomas/Degrees related to Media or Management
-Methodical troubleshooter
-Logical thinker with the ability to clearly communicate ideas

You will build strong connections:
-Within the wider Traffic Department
-With members of key business stakeholders such as Sales, IT/Tech, Legal, Programming, Presentation, Commerce and NPC Media.
