Communications Manager

Leading Australian not-for-profit is looking for an exceptional communications professional to join their high-performing marketing and communications team in this permanent role, based in Abbotsford.

If you have a background in corporate communications, PR or marcomms (in house or agency), this could be the one for you!

Reporting to the Head of Marketing and providing coaching and mentoring to a small team, you will be responsible for:

– strategic PR and corporate communications activity to raise profile, drive fundraising and promote services and support programs
– researching and writing content across a range of channels
– interviewing key stakeholders to create content for a range of audiences
– developing and providing advice on key messaging
– embedding brand content, language and tone of voice across the organisation
– translating research results into compelling content
– writing, distributing and pitching stories and materials to media
– working with a PR agency on national strategy
– providing support to media spokespeople
– working with ambassadors
– working with an internal graphic designer
– assisting with crisis communication, event promotion and other activities
coaching and mentoring of a small team.

We’re looking for someone with:

– a minimum of 5-6 years’ experience in corporate communications, PR or marketing communications (in house or agency)
– a love of working with multiple external and internal stakeholders to produce high quality communications
– ability to think strategically while also being hands-on developing communication material
– exceptional writing. editing and proofreading skills
– strong media contacts – or demonstrated capacity to build them
– a track record producing a wide range of communication material to tight deadlines including media releases, annual reports, presentations, newsletters, print collateral and more.

On a personal note, you will be an experienced communications professional who prides yourself on producing quality content and communication materials, enjoys PR and has some experience coaching and mentoring others.

You’ll be highly motivated, positive, passionate and hands-on.

This is a full time role, based in Melbourne. Occasional travel (mainly to Sydney) will be required.
