About us

The Australasian Society for HIV, Viral Hepatitis and Sexual Health Medicine (ASHM) is a professional, not-for-profit, member based organisation. It supports its members, sector partners and collaborators to generate knowledge and action in clinical management and research, education, policy and advocacy in Australasia and internationally.

About you

ASHM is looking for a communications generalist with strong marketing skills who can make diverse, often complex subject matter interesting and engaging for our audiences. A knowledge of health communications is a plus – you will be promoting and communicating about HIV, hepatitis and sexual health education, resources, events, policy and advocacy to doctors, nurses, specialists and the general health workforce in Australia and the region.

The Communications and Marketing Officer reports to the Media & Communications Manager and has responsibility for:

Promoting ASHM, its programs and services through communications and marketing activities
Developing and implementing communications plans relating to ASHM’s events and projects
Project managing ASHM publications including the annual report and e-newsletter
Managing ASHM’s social media accounts, including content development, monitoring and reporting
Supporting ASHM’s media and sector engagement

Candidates must have a tertiary qualification in media, communications or marketing OR equivalent work experience, and at least two years’ work experience in a similar role.

With your well-developed writing and editing skills and demonstrated experience in managing organisational social media accounts, you will be confident in clearly and concisely summarising and expressing complex ideas, with the ability to deal professionally with people at all levels. Working in a team environment, you will have excellent time management skills and attention to detail.
