Communications Officer (12 month Fixed Term Contract)

Overview

The marketing and communications team is looking for a Communication Officer.

This role is responsible for supporting our regional, divisional and country specific communication plans (internal and external). In this role you will play a vital part in driving communications that enhance Mastercard’s reputation in earned media, with a strong focus on media relations and reputation management. This role will also be responsible for driving internal communications and managing onsite events within the Australian Tech Hub.

Role

This is a 12 month fixed term Maternity Leave position.

• Execute the internal communications program for Mastercard, including drafting relevant materials to support announcements/initiatives/offers, creating content and managing the EBB system, end to end event management for onsite events and working closely with HR to align on employee engagement strategy
• Responsible for driving the news generation function for Mastercard through assets and other data driven reports, in addition to creating proactive opportunities for media coverage, working closely with regional teams and external PR agency
• Under the guidance of Communications Director, lead delivery and execution of assigned B2C & B2B2C campaigns, including Cash Passport and Priceless Cities
• Be responsible for managing third party press releases announcing new partnerships and collaborations
• As necessary manage reactive media responses, securing insight from relevant business units, managing media and drafting responses for approval
• Hands on and end to end coordination for onsite events at the Australian Tech Hub that enhance Mastercard’s reputation including organising catering, event styling, content requirements and drafting necessary communications
• Providing administrative and event support for external conference sponsorships such as City Possible
• Support the Communications Director on major integrated campaign such as Rugby World Cup and Digital Security
• Work collaboratively with internal Marketing, Business Development, Public Policy and other stakeholder teams to provide strategic communications consultation and identify opportunities to deliver coverage
• Work closely with Regional & Global Mastercard teams based in Singapore, New York & Europe
• Ensure all policy, regulatory and compliance requirements are met for all communications activity
• Required to travel domestically – often at peak periods (Christmas)

• Suitable candidates will bring Communications experience in an internal or external capacity and are looking for their next step up in their career
• This is a hands on role and the successful candidate will enjoy being involved in all aspects of Communications and Media Relations
• A combination of consumer and corporate communication experience is preferred
• Some internal communications experience is also preferred
• You will have had some experience working on projects that require a high degree of collaboration with external stakeholders and colleagues across varying business areas
• Demonstrated ability to lead small to medium campaigns, creating and executing strategies that meet business objectives
• Experience with stakeholder management
• Results oriented
• Positive attitude
