Design Manager (3 Month Gig)

We’re a branding and design agency in Newtown, looking for someone to keep this ship running on course.

As Design Manager, you’re responsible for client services, planning, scheduling and managing the workflow in the studio while adhering to our working style and values. This is a integral role in the running of our studio, with responsibilities which include a combination of client service, scheduling, operations along with getting in the tools. Day-to-day you’ll be working closely with the director, design team and external suppliers.
You will have held similar roles in creative studios in the past, as a natural leader you’ll enjoy a role which provides autonomy, purpose and support. Your ability to adapt across various styles of projects will be highly regarded. This gig initially is a 3 month offer, with a view to permanent for the right candidate. Applicants excited by the move to permanent will be highly regarded.

Areas of responsibility:
Client service: you’ll be responsible in consultation with Senior Designer & Director to ensure that all projects are completed without error, on time and on budget.
Scheduling: you’ll be responsible for planning, scheduling and managing the workflow in the studio while adhering to our agreed behaviours.
Operations: you’ll assist the Director in the smooth operation and building efficiencies of the studio.
Project management: you’ll assist the Senior Designer & Director to manage production related to all projects.
Artworker: you’ll assist the design team and creative artworker by getting on the tools and producing outputs.

You will have:
Completed education in a design-related field
Minimum 5+ years’ experience in a similar studio or agency role
Understanding of how a design studio ticks, you know what a brief from a client should look like, 
and how to brief your team
Understanding of branding identity, digital and design processes
Strong understanding of preparing artwork for print and digital
Ability to manage and contribute on issues related to workflows and studio efficiency
Ability to lead WIP team meetings, plan workflow and determine future resource needs
An outgoing and enthusiastic personality with a passion for helping people
The ability to manage a project from conception through to implementation
Proven experience managing clients and creative team members
Experience working in fast-paced environments where strict adherence to achieving deadlines is critical, and where multiple projects are undertaken concurrently
Expert technical knowledge of and demonstrated proficiency in use of industry software including Adobe Creative Suite.
