About the company

Defence Force Recruiting (DFR) is a hybrid organisation consisting of ManpowerGroup Australia, Department of Defence (DoD) and Australian Defence Force (ADF) personnel. Working in partnership, the core focus of DFR is to recruit candidates for the Australian Navy, Army and Air Force. This collaboration utilises the skills and knowledge of Defence Force personnel & ManpowerGroup employees to achieve capability for the ADF.

The Role

The successful applicant will be employed by ManpowerGroup Australia as part of a Recruiting Services Contract with the DoD and is not a position within Defence. This role will report to the National Digital Manager based in Canberra, working within a small team of digital specialists, collaborating closely with marketing and social media teams on a wide range of projects on a scale few employers around Australia can provide. You will be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of attraction and operational based digital projects, leading Defence Force Recruiting ‘Digital’ direction, identifying strategic opportunities and providing additional expertise across a diverse range of products and services.

Your mantra will be “candidate first” in all deliverables. You will collaborate with key areas of the business to meet our mission, which is “Recruiting the right people in the right numbers at the right time for the ADF in order to build and sustain Defence capability”.

Some of the key projects the Digital team have undertaken over the past 12 months include a fitness application for iOS and Android, Virtual Reality rollout, website build & content migration, digital prototyping, multivariate testing and CRM integration.


• Overseeing multiple projects from concept through to delivery
• Managing a vast range of business stakeholders and agency suppliers
• Creation of detailed project briefs and business cases
• Detailed report writing and stakeholder presentations
• Proactive approach to improving business and candidate solutions

Skills & Experience:

• Proven project management experience across different methodologies
• Technical understanding of the online digital space, platform/system integration, UX/CX and emerging technologies is highly desirable
• Demonstrated experience in managing the online strategy of a large consumer business
• A creative mindset for out of the box ideas and concepts
• Experience in defining, planning and coordinating online and digital content
• Proven capability in stakeholder engagement and management
• Experienced with measuring and defining success using tools like Google Analytics (or similar)
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Excellent written and verbal skills


• Australian Citizenship
• Be able to obtain and hold a Security Clearance
