Head of Marketing

Hachette Australia is seeking a Head of Marketing to manage the marketing department and work on campaigns across all imprints. This is a full-time permanent position based in Sydney, but we are prepared to be flexible around working hours for the right candidate.

The Head of Marketing will report to the Communications Director and will be responsible for all marketing functions at Hachette Australia. This includes planning, directing and implementing HA’s marketing activity and directly managing the marketing department. The successful candidate will be an experienced marketing professional with strong knowledge of the publishing industry or a comparable creative content industry.

To be considered for the role you should have demonstrable creative ability, extensive digital marketing skills, excellent communication and copywriting skills, and 5 years’ relevant experience. A passion for marketing, ideas and culture in general (particularly literary culture) are all prerequisites, and you must have a talent for managing creative people. The ideal candidate will be ambitious for our books, and a powerful influencer.

To be successful in this role, you will ideally possess the following:

• Extensive experience within the publishing and/or marketing industry
• Experience operating at a senior and strategic level
• Extensive experience managing, developing and creating social and online presences for authors & genres
• Budget management – including planning, tracking and analysing spends for return on investment
• Proven experience communicating with lots of different stakeholders, both internally and externally, to ensure campaign support and success
• Experience working both independently and as part of a team
• Experience mentoring and/or managing people
