Media Relations Manager

Purpose
Reporting to the Director of Marketing, the primary responsibility of this candidate will be to lead all media communication for the Pinnacle Group, developing and implementing strategic communication campaigns across all media platforms to drive publicity, awareness and increase brand sentiment.

Scope
This is a diverse role that would suit a well-rounded communications specialist who enjoys working across multiple projects, using their skillset in both print and digital mediums, but also in relationship and talent management. You must deliver exceptional work on every project that you are involved in. The Media Relations Manager will report into the Director of Marketing and will be part of the strategic connections team within the Pinnacle marketing team.

You will be a new breed of PR specialist that understands the new world of earned media and what drives cultural conversations beyond traditional publicity and promotion. You will be highly creative and strategic, have experience with influencer partnerships and events within the finance/ lifestyle categories.

You will be an experienced writer with a perfectionist attitude to your work. You must be able to demonstrate a proven track record with a variety of Clients. You will be comfortable writing opinion pieces, profiles on our amazing talent- ranging from the Pinnacle Managing Director Ian Macoun, our affiliate Chief Investment Officers such as Jacob Mitchell or affiliate Managing Directors such as Don Hamson- features, newsletters, Linkedin bios, media releases, case studies, industry award submissions and everything in between.

As the Pinnacle Publicity Manager, you will demonstrate excellent communication skills and you will be expected to create and maintain excellent working, professional relationships with multiple complex stakeholders across the business, the Director of Marketing and members of the broader connections and marketing team. You will be a dedicated team player, are excellent at time management and are able to consistently work to tight deadlines. You demonstrate the ability to handle multiple tasks at the same time, flexing to the needs of the business when changes are required.
You will work as a key member of the marketing connections team and be comfortable in identifying consumer touchpoints to drive awareness and engagement within multiple campaigns. You will be required to develop strategy and plans against specific briefs, adhering to the brand guidelines and ensuring that all output is on brand, on brief and beautifully executed. You will be in constant contact with marketing business partners, the content team and key stakeholders to ensure you’re working efficiently, seamlessly and as part of a solid team of resources.

Responsibilities
• Lead all PR initiatives for Pinnacle & our affiliates, constantly identifying opportunities to promote Pinnacle’s diverse offering of over 12 affiliates and growing.
• Develop and manage strong media relationships on a daily basis across a wide range of media sectors; finance, lifestyle, entertainment, education, broadcast and online.
• Work closely with the Director of Marketing, Client Communications Strategist, affiliate Chief Investment Officers, affiliate Portfolio Managers and stakeholders to set proactive PR goals for the Pinnacle Group.
• Recognise and secure key PR opportunities to develop the profiles of Pinnacle’s wide variety of talented staff from Chief Investment Officers, Portfolio Managers to MD profile management and from interview requests to speaking commitments.
• Foster relationships between Pinnacle and the finance, education and not for profit industries.
• Produce all media collateral for Pinnacle including press releases, media kits and invitations.
• Manage external PR agencies when hired to work on selected campaigns for the business.
• Lead crisis management for the company including negative press reports, risk & compliance incidents and licensing regulations.
• Review and manage all photography and filming shoot requests for Pinnacle and its affiliates.
• Monitor media daily, responding immediately where appropriate and sharing articles to key internal stakeholders.

Requirements
• Unfortunately, the business will not be able to offer sponsorship, so we can only consider applicants who are eligible to work in AU or who have a valid AU work visa.
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in public relations.
• Strong relationships across finance and lifestyle media. Global experience and knowledge would be an advantage.
• A real strategic thinker who is passionate about building brands and engaging customers through multiple touchpoints.
• You understand the new world of earned media and excel in driving cultural conversations beyond traditional publicity and promotional campaigns.
• Enjoy all aspects of traditional PR; influencer partnerships, press releases, photo shoots and events.
• Experienced in multi-tasking and being able to simultaneously handle numerous projects and tasks.
• Passionate about finance, culture, the community, technology, new trends and wanting to use business as a force for good & an appetite to change people’s lives through better financial decisions.
• Youthful in spirit, culturally-connected and worldly wise.
• The ability to develop strong, interpersonal relationships, with excellent communication skills and an exceptional attention to detail.
