Picture editor

We are recruiting for a picture editor to join our Sydney newsroom on a 9-month contract.

Working alongside the Guardian Australia desk editors this role will take responsibility for generating creative ideas and providing picture content for the Guardian Australia site.

To be considered for this role you will have significant and proven experience as a picture editor within the national media, good knowledge of picture agencies and archives and experience using Photoshop and commissioning photographs. The ability to take publishable pictures (including portraiture, documentary, event and aerial images) and write good copy is highly desirable.

The successful candidate will be creative, proactive, assertive and organised, thrive operating in a fast-paced and demanding environment, remain calm under pressure and have excellent communication skills.

This role will commence in June 2019 and is being offered on a full-time, 9-month contract (replacement cover), working over a seven-day roster with early starts or late finishes.
