Public Relations Executive

The Walshe Group has some exciting new tourism projects coming up, including representing Okinawa Tourism, and are looking for a Public Relations Executive with their heart set on working in the travel/tourism industry.
You’ll be working as part of a small team who are passionate about doing their absolute best for their clients and delivering quality, strategic outcomes.
This is a challenging and rewarding role where no two days are the same. Tasks include writing media releases, developing media relationships, coordinating famil itineraries, managing media events and other general administrative projects. While you’ll be assigned to work specifically with one of our tourism partners, you will also have opportunities to work with a range of clients in our portfolio.
The role also has an important administrative component which includes managing media clippings, updating the database and media kit, and detailed reporting and planning.
As part of a small busy team you will need to be prepared to play your role and pitch in with a busy calendar of events and public relations activities.
About you:
We’re looking for a public relations specialist with 2-3 years agency experience in a PR or communications role. You’ll need to have:
• Tertiary qualifications in communications/public relations/journalism.
• Demonstrated experience in successfully coordinating publicity projects and activities.
• Experience in working across a range of media channels including print, broadcast, digital and social.
• A creative flair with proven experience in writing materials for a variety of mediums.
• Experience with media relationships, particularly in seeking out story ideas and successfully pitching them.
• Exceptional organisational and time management skills to successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously and to meet deadlines.
• Strong IT skills; MS Office, graphic/design software skills highly advantageous.
Some of the fine print:
• The role is full-time and based in The Walshe Group’s Sydney CBD offices, reporting to the GM, Public Relations.
• Some domestic and international travel required.
• Some out of hours commitments will be required so you will need to be flexible to accommodate this.
• Previous experience working in the tourism industry a definite advantage.
