Senior account manager

YOUR ROLE IN A NUTSHELL

This role will provide the opportunity to, in consultation with SKMG’s partners, lead and execute communications strategies for a number of Australia’s leading businesses across a range of sectors and industries.

The role is suitable for an individual with experience working in PR and/or communication agencies looking for the next step in their career, offering both autonomy and the opportunity to learn and develop your skillset within one of Australia’s most recognised communications consultancies as it moves into its next phase of growth.

THE SPECIFICS

• This full-time role will involve overseeing client strategy and execution for up to three clients at a time
• Strategies are developed in consultation with the SKMG partners and involve media relations, pitching, brand partnerships where relevant and the development of media and communications assets including media releases, scripts, EDMs, op-eds and more
• The role will also be expected to occasionally assist with managing overflow communication requirements for other SKMG clients

WHAT YOU SHOULD SPEND YOUR TIME DOING

Key aspects of the role include, but are not limited to the following (all in conjunction with SKMG partners):

• Working to lead communications strategy on your primary clients, in collaboration with Andrew Knowles and Neil Shoebridge
• Occasionally managing communications tasks as required for other SKMG clients, including:
o Developing and writing media releases/announcements
o Developing and writing presentation/conference scripts
o Developing and writing creative concepts for client trade marketing
o Developing “thought leadership” strategies
o Developing and writing “thought leadership” content
o Developing and writing other materials, such as corporate brochures, annual reports, mission statements, boiler plates, internal newsletters and external newsletters
• Working with SKMG’s partners to continue to optimise workflow and process concerning client engagement

ROLE COMPETENCIES

The below outlines core competencies of the role:

• A minimum of five years’ experience working in PR/communications agencies
• Passion for media, entertainment, marketing and advertising or emerging business
• Some existing media relationships
• Strong writing skills
• Strong communication skills, internal and external
• Ability to work under pressure
• Ability to hit deadlines
• Strong project/workflow management skills
• Strong hands-on operational experience
• Strong analytical / problem solving skills with the patience to examine detail and create solutions
• High “emotional intelligence and awareness” and ability to manage self and others in a constructive manner
