Senior Visual Designer

Purpose is looking for a Senior Visual Designer to join the Sydney office, working closely with the Creative Director based in New York to execute on creative projects including branding, web design, and campaigns. This person will play a key role, conceptualizing and designing groundbreaking visual identities and digital assets. S/he should have a passionate edge for wanting to help change the narrative on social justice, climate change, and , and accelerate policy and market shifts through creative engagement.

The ideal candidate is an exceptional visual designer whose work turns heads and drops jaws. You can work at our pace with passion and you innovate with every project that comes your way. You excel in a fast-paced environment and your portfolio showcases solid digital work and branding that is sharp and clean. Your work reflects the most forward-thinking approach in the design world, as well as a masterful understanding of the basics – typography, color, and composition.


– Participate throughout all phases, from concept to execution, to create thoughtful design solutions that incite participation and engagement. Including but not limited to: brand identity, responsive web design, infographics, print collateral, mock-ups and event signage.
– Work closely with the Creative Director to develop strategic and beautiful designs based on each project’s established vision and concept.
– Work collaboratively with other designers, copywriters, video production team, as well as with strategists, web developers, analysts and online campaigners.
– Contribute actively in workshops, brainstorms and ideation sessions with the ability to present concepts and articulate designs to the team.
– Think critically and strategically, learn quickly from mistakes, and receive and incorporate creative feedback gracefully.
– Manage your time and workload effectively and work independently with minimal supervision.


– Proven expertise across branding, digital, and print design, with a strong understanding of the creative process, a clean and thoughtful design aesthetic, and very high creative standards.
– Strong knowledge of brand development and the creation of comprehensive brand identity systems and style guides. Expert eye for typography, color, layout and user experience.
– Keen understanding of best practices and technical processes for web development and print production. You must be able to set up files for pre-press or handoff to a web developer, as well as be able to conduct quality assurance for your designs.
– Work well under pressure, maintaining quality and attention to detail under real-world deadlines.
– Self-motivated positive attitude and collaborative nature.
– 3+ years experience designing and concepting at a digital agency, consumer facing web company, or start-up environment.
– Thorough fluency with Adobe Creative Suite. Knowledge of additional design or prototyping tools is a plus, as is expertise in front or back-end coding, motion graphics, video production, or photography.
– Knowledge of climate campaigning landscape
– Passion, a sharp mind, high integrity, a hands-on attitude, and an entrepreneurial, problem-solving spirit
– Background in brand strategy and/or formal research & analysis a plus
– You are excited to support global teams and work with people from diverse backgrounds

Portfolio Details:

Please provide a link to your online portfolio (no PDFs, please). We’re looking for a solid amount of digital work (responsive websites are a must) and brand identities that are clean, sophisticated and well executed. The majority of your portfolio should be project work that has been launched on the web or otherwise deployed by you or the client; please don’t send mock-ups.
