Strategist

The Role:

This is a great role for someone who wants to prove themselves in an independent agency. Trusted with bringing big picture thinking to clients who need problem solving to improve their brand, creative, social and digital campaigns.

This role will report to and support the Planning Partner in ensuring that the whole agency’s output is living up to our vision for effective, groundbreaking advertising. Utilising a solid understanding of the fundamentals of advertising in combination with love of innovative social and digital work, this role will create strategy and campaign plans that bring our creative ideas to life.

The role requires working with the accounts team to better understand the brief, guiding clients to solve business problems and ensuring briefs inspire effective ideas. The role will be vital in bringing a critical analysis to tasks, developing the right agency process to give the client what they need. The ideal candidate will be comfortable collaborating closely with creative teams to take ideas into campaign plans, utilising your experience in social and digital to create plans that map messaging through the line, connecting offline and online channels. Knowing how data can be transferred platform to platform and bringing a knowledge of the possibilities of digital platforms.

This role will be key in scaling our digital offering, but the ideal candidate will bring with them a healthy focus on effective business strategy, ensuring Connecting Plots as seen as a valuable partner to our clients, offering insightful guidance that measurably improves campaign outcomes.

What You Do:

Strategic Mindset

Lead client recommendations with a ‘problem solving’ mindset, confident to ask clients the right questions that lead to better outcomes.
Provide strategic direction on social accounts, working closely with Social Media Managers and creative teams to give strategic direction to content creation.
Working with business leads to identify business growth opportunities across existing and new clients, assisting guide pitch work.
Writing inspiring briefs that guide creative to original ideas, then collaborating on campaign plans to bring those ideas to life in the channel.
Collaborate with the creative team and offer stewardship of social/digital excellence to ensure that creative is developed in line with agency best practice
Have strong creative judgement and be able to develop creative ideas/campaigns with a view to driving business growth for clients.
Actively create an environment with our clients in which we can sell ambitious work

Guide Effectiveness

Inspire the team and clients to do effective & remarkable work
Lead selected key accounts working closely with the Group Account Director or Business Lead
Help raise the agency profile as having a market leading digital offering, proven through campaigns you’ve shaped and led.
Provide guidance & stewardship on accounts that have a social & influencer components, leading these to effective, scaled outcomes, with guidance from the Group Strategy Director.
Lead the accounts team in shaping our social and digital products through proposals and scopes that lead to innovative agency work.

Innovation Leadership

Develop relationships with platform partners for creative/media opportunities and new client opportunities, staying up to date with platform developments.
Research and analyse changes in social and digital environments, communicating key changes to the agency and guiding thought leadership on impact.
Work to build & integrate all digital product offerings (including social, influencer and more)
Actively sharing innovative work with team and clients, with a skill for showing the relevance of case studies to business context for our clients.
Creating campaign plans that link communication touch points across campaigns, particularly in digital, across brand and performance executions.
Work with the GSD to create thought leadership presentations that entertain, challenge and provoke clients to rethink digital advertising, leading to campaigns that impact business.
Build your brand strategy skills through assisting the Group Strategy Director with research and narrative building for key clients and pitches.

Essential Skills/Experience:

Minimum 8 years experience in strategy, social or digital roles, with demonstrated strategic thinking.
Well versed in executing campaigns across multiple channels, building user journeys and campaign eco-systems
Demonstrated skills in reading, analysing and producing insights from a range of data sources, understanding the limits of what can be inferred from data and media metrics.
Hunger to drive innovation & courageous to do things not done before
Exceptional knowledge of social channels and the opportunities they present for brands
Proven examples of strategic and creative thinking at a campaign level, desire to build into brand planning and long term client leadership.
Strong presentation and client service skills
Commercially focused to help drive new business growth and opportunities, existing client relationships a massive advantage.
