The Job:

We are looking for an Entertainment Editor with at least 2 years’ experience of producing digital content & growing a digital audience. This position is based in our Central Sydney office will report to the Digital Lead, Editor in Chief and Managing Director.  Your day to day responsibilities will involve:

Finding, pitching and writing compelling stories that captures the current conversation around TV, Streaming, Film, Podcasts & Music
Be nimble enough to hop onto breaking news, whether it’s to write an obituary, a festival announcement or a new TV show dropping on Netflix
Deftly move these stories from inception to published online
Develop a robust social media strategy and presence, interacting closely with audiences whilst attracting new followers. Build social media accounts, engage with key sources and influencers and develop a killer hashtag list, and be present in the community
Pitch editorial & commercial ideas that bring audiences together & gets the audience talking

Who are you and what we’re looking for:

The ideal candidate will have exceptional news sense across a wide range of topic areas as well as an understanding of audience acquisition and a hunger to break stories, ideas and rules in a fast-paced media environment. We are looking for a passionate individual able to multitask, work to deadlines and join a collaborative team. The following skills will be beneficial:

2+ years relevant experience and strong familiarity with online publishing platforms
Creating content that is witty and entertaining, with a distinct point of view
Ability to develop an audience and keep it engaged with unique content
Journalism ethics and adherence to the highest standards of professional conduct
Experience and maturity dealing with sources, subjects, colleagues and trolls
Knowledge of how to use metrics to maximise reach with our best stories
Understanding of how to conceptualise and package each story with multiple components to maximise its value to readers, in print and on digital platforms
Knowledge of lifestyle trends, including pop culture, design, tech, fashion & relationships
Experience with social media.
