Video Editor & Content Creator

The Opportunity

To help us grow, we are looking to add an experienced Video Editor & Content Creator to our team on a part-time basis (3 days per week).

We are looking for a highly creative leader to captain our post-production ship. The right candidate will be a visual storyteller who dreams in storyboards and style frames. They will partner closely with the agency creative director and project leads to establish the conceptual framework for a project, then lead a team of animators, editors and videographers in executing that vision to its fullest creative potential. The ideal candidate lives to craft beautiful moving stories and knows how to assemble all available resources to accomplish that goal.

The Video Editor & Content Creator takes the lead on art direction and the design of motion graphics projects. You have an innate ability to translate a script into a production plan, from live-action to animation. You thrive on deadlines. You have a range of experience integrating various production steps (script writing, story-boarding, sketching concepts/mock-ups, animation/motion graphics, VFX integration, video editing, audio, colour grading, create presentations to visualise ideas and narratives) and scaling the operation to accommodate a variety of budgets and scheduling needs.

This role is incredibly diverse. You could be working across clients in industries from professional services to FMCG. You could be delivering a new brand and website one day, to producing video content (such as explainer videos, brand manifestos, testimonials/customer stories, TVCs, Youtube bumpers and trueview ads, social video) or radio ads the next.

To Make This Rare Position Yours You Will:

– Be capable of developing storyboards, style frames, and shot lists to visualise concepts and scripts with agency creatives
– Have a good understanding of motion graphics and editing software
– Be proficient within the entire Adobe Creative Suite including (but not exclusively); Photoshop, Illustrator, Premier Pro and After Effects. All our presentations are created in Keynote or PowerPoint
– Be able to generate clear ideas and concepts in tandem with the creative team in the execution of the creative vision and ensure all deadlines and deliverables are met
– Consult with production teams and suppliers (ie: videographers, photographers and animators) on visual effects shot requirements and direct video and photoshoots
– Ensure consistency in all work produced by directing all creative deliverables and establishing best practices in production workflow
– Assist in the department commercial offering by cultivating new and existing relationships with clients, creative partners and suppliers
– Foster positive team energy toward experimenting with your craft and creating stories that are compelling to Step Change and the stories we tell for our clients

Who You Are

You will have a passion for storytelling, design, media and technology and have experience managing and delivering multiple projects at one time. You are comfortable talking about 2D and 3D motion ideation and production workflows as well as a keen awareness of visual trends that maintain best creative practices.

You’re very comfortable with working in a range of skillsets, both internally and externally, for example recruiting, training and up-skilling interns and creative team members, for project-based campaigns. You could be talking to an inhouse designer one day, a key stakeholder or presenting to the C-suite the next.

– Experience working across strategy, digital and creative integrated campaigns
– Experience in character and illustration a plus
– Experience producing video content, photoshoots and script writing
– Experience directing video and photoshoots
– Experience working in an agency environment and building client relationships
– Experience managing creative and digital team members and working with designers
