Masterchef wins the night as most popular entertainment show, topping all key demos
Ten’s Masterchef has topped the ratings leader board for Thursday night as the most-watched non-news program, averaging 879,000 metro viewers.
The show was up against Nine’s RBT, which pulled 532,000 metro viewers, and Seven’s split broadcast of Highway Patrol in Sydney and Brisbane and the AFL in Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth.
Last night’s Masterchef episode was also the most-watched program in key advertising demographics 16-39, 18-49 and 25-54, according to OzTAM’s overnight preliminary metro ratings.
The AFL match saw Geelong claim a two-point victory over Port Adelaide and managed 304,000 viewers in Melbourne, 153,000 in Adelaide and 64,000 in Perth.
The clear winner in overall audience share for the night was Seven with 20.4%, beating Ten’s 16.6% share and Nine’s 16.5%.
Meanwhile ABC grabbed an 11.2% share ahead of SBS’ 4.2%.
In news for the evening, Nine News at 6pm was the most-watched program overall with 980,000, topping Seven News’ 957,000.
The 6.30pm news battle saw Nine News attract 939,000 metro viewers ahead of Seven News/Today Tonight’s 874,000.
