Music streaming firm Deezer targets local football fans with new content

Music streaming firm Deezer is targeting football fans in Australia after signing a deal to enable subscribers to listen to commentary of English Premier League matches.

Deezer, which closed its Australian office in 2014 but continues to service the local market, has extended an existing partnership it has with UK radio network talkSPORT to provide the content.

It will enable Deezer Premium subscribers to listen to all English Premier League games including pre-match, half-time and post-match programming.

“As football is loved around the world, with 42% of Internet users watching EPL in APAC alone we are thrilled to bring fans in Australia and Malaysia even closer to the live experience through our extended partnership with talkSPORT,” Deezer Asia chief executive Henrik Karlberg said.

He added the deal “reinforces our commitment to football and to providing consumers with the best entertainment audio experience”.
