Netflix releases 2021 movie line-up

Global streaming platform Netflix has announced its 2021 movie slate.

The line-up of films from across the globe features several from award winning filmmakers, including Jane Campion (The Power of the Dog), Paolo Sorrentino (The Hand of God) and Adam McKay (Don’t Look Up).

The platform will be looking to address all cinematic interest with a schedule of films across action, comedy, drama, family-friendly, horror and more.

Netflix is promising to deliver a new movie every week in 2021, featuring an extensive list of top Hollywood stars: Leonardo DiCaprio, Sandra Bullock, Dwayne Johnson, Idris Elba, Meryl Streep, Zendaya, Jennifer Lawrence, Ryan Reynolds, Jennifer Garner, Gal Gadot, Dave Bautista, Naomi Watts, Jake Gyllenhaal, John David Washington and Octavia Spencer.

It will also be re-introducing  popular teen screams (Fear Street trilogy, There’s Someone Inside Your House), and a number of novel-based films (The Woman in the Window, Munich, The Last Letter from Your Lover).

A number of large studios have forgone traditional cinema releases in the past year in favour of streaming platforms such as Netflix due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

Warner Bros studios recently announced that all 17 of its films slated for release in 2021 will be available on the streaming platform HBO Max on the same day they’re released. That includes the superhero flick Wonder Woman 1984, Lin Manuel Miranda’s musical In The Heights and the sci-fi epic Dune.
