Pinstripe Media buys micro-business site Flying Solo

Small business website Flying Solo has been sold to David Koch’s media and content marketing agency Pinstripe Media.

The acquisition – which will see Pinstripe Media take a 100% stake in the website – will add to the agency’s business and start-up publications including Kochie’s Business Builders, Startup Daily, Small Business First and The Airport Economist.

Flying Solo was launched 12 years ago and now has more than 100,000 members.

Koch said Flying Solo would add an important ‘extra element’ to his company’s small business media assets.

“I’ve always loved Flying Solo and I’m really excited to be bringing them into the Pinstripe family. It makes a lot of business sense; they have a loyal following in a niche sector of the small business community that is growing every day,” Koch said.

“We have expertise in providing inspirational and educational content to small business audiences, and integrating our brand partners in a meaningful way. We can’t wait to get started!”

In a post on the company’s website Flying Solo added: “Joining forces with a network of trusted small business brands will enable us to bring you a host of new member benefits and stacks more tips and tools, as well as give Flying Solo a greater voice and reach, to support Australia’s small business community.”

Flying solo director Peter Crocker will remain with the business and will be employed under Pinstripe Media while Gerrish will remain involved in the site as an advisor.

MCN has represented the micro-business site’s advertising since 201 and will continue to do so.

Nev Hasan, MCN’s national digital sales director said of the acquisition: “This is an exciting new chapter for Flying Solo and at MCN we are looking forward to continuing our partnership, delivering advertising opportunities for brands across the site to reach an engaged and loyal audience.”
