Punters.com.au CEO Luc Pettett departs the News owned site

Luc Pettett, CEO of digital racing publisher punters.com.au is set to depart the company after nine years.

Starting out as a blog in 2008 and acquired by News Corp last year, Punters.com.au provides audience news, results, tipping, odds comparison and a forum for horse racing enthusiasts.

Pettett will spend time with family and pursue new goals

Pettett will take time with family and pursue new goals and will continue to be available to consult for the business, and will be replaced by Ben Bloomfield, Tabcorp’s current general manager for wagering, technology and media.

Bloomfield was previously head of portfolio management and was also portfolio manager for wagering at Tabcorp.

Pettett said it was a tough decision to leave the company but added it was “time to hand over”, noting Bloomfield was a “terrific fit”.

Bloomfield commences his new role in January

“Punters has been a great source of pride to me but it’s all about the people who have helped build it over the years. It’s been an amazing journey,” Pettett said.

Bloomfield will commence his new role in January next year.

He said he was thrilled to join the team and a business which had a “great culture at its centre”.

At the time Punters.com.au was acquired by News Corp for an undisclosed amount it had an estimated average monthly audience “of more than 375,000”.

News Corp’s executive chairman Michael Miller thanked Pettett for his diligence and the company’s smooth transition following acquisition.

“I congratulate Luc on building a business like Punters and thank him for making sure it is positioned for continued expansion as he departs. His efforts to ensure the incoming CEO Ben Bloomfield matched Punters’ aspirations have been excellent,” Miller said.
