Resurgent Australian cricket team bats on for Nine but undies hero a help for Sunrise

On the penultimate night of the official ratings year a resurgent Australian cricket team delivered a winning innings for Nine with nearly a million metro viewers tuning into the match in Adelaide, but a bloke in his undies was an unwitting winner for Seven.

With the second-ever day/night test still very much an experiment for Cricket Australia, keen to deliver its broadcast partner an even more advertising friendly format, 946,000 viewers tuned into the third session of the second day of the test.

With Australia having already lost the series the audience would have been seen as a victory for Nine as it also helped deliver the network the overall win for the night.
