South Australian storms hit TV audiences with The Bachelorette slipping below 600,000 viewers

The South Australian storms have impacted last night’s TV audiences, with Adelaide viewer numbers plummeting due to power outages from late afternoon into the evening.

Ten’s The Bachelorette appears to have been impacted with its audience slipping from a total of 655,000 last week to just 570,000 last night at 7:30pm. Adelaide viewers accounted for 20,000 of the show’s total audience, down from last week’s 54,000.

It was out-rated by Nine’s The Block which grabbed 817,000 metro viewers – 27,000 of those from Adelaide.

Seven’s Border Security – Australia’s Front Line attracted 635,000 metro viewers in the same time slot, with an Adelaide audience of 14,000.

The Bachelorette was the most-watched show amongst viewers aged 16-39 while The Block was the popular choice amongst viewers aged 18-49 and 25-54.

Nine just managed to win the night with an audience share of 19.9% ahead of Seven’s share of 19.2%, while Ten drew a share of 15% and the ABC 14.5%.

Ten’s premiere of Zoe Foster Blake’s The Wrong Girl grabbed 684,000 at 8:30pm, easily out-rating Seven’s Scarlett Johansson thriller, Lucy, which was watched by 504,000.

The Wrong Girl also beat Nine’s local drama series Doctor, Doctor, which grabbed 661,000 metro viewers, down from last week’s audience of 821,000.

However, none could compete with the ABC’s Gruen which dominated the time slot with an audience of 796,000.

Seven News at 6:00pm had a total of 968,000 metro viewers, with just 1,000 viewers in Adelaide able to tune in, according to overnight OzTAM figures, with the metro figure dropping to 954,000 from 6:30pm.

Nine News achieved 832,000 metro viewers at 6:00pm, growing to 862,000 from 6:30pm with Adelaide accounting for zero viewers in the first half_hour, and 1,000 in the second half-hour.

On the ABC, Anh’s Brush with Fame, which aired at 8:00pm, grabbed 693,000 metro viewers.

*A previous version of this story inaccurately said The Bachelorette had shed more than 130,000 viewers with the show down to  570,000 from 703,000 viewers last week.
