Standing ovation for Beck Cole's Here I Am
Beck Cole’s first feature Here I Am received a standing ovation last night after its premiere at the BigPond Adelaide Film Festival.
Festival director Katrina Sedgwick welcomed Cole, producer Kath Shelper, DOP Warwick Thornton, leading actress Shair Pittman and other members of the cast and crew to the stage of the Piccadilly Cinema, where they were acclaimed by the audience.
Here I Am tells the story of an Indigenous woman trying to rebuild her life after being released from jail. From the safety of a woman’s shelter in Port Adelaide, she will try to face her past and her future – including her estranged mother who is raising her young daughter.
It will be released later this year by Footprint Films in conjunction with Transmission Films.
