Telstra appoints Attention + Influence and WPP to PR account
One of the biggest PR accounts in Australia, telco giant Telstra, has appointed both WPP and Omnicom’s Attention + Influence to handle its international and local PR activity, Mumbrella can reveal.
WPP has created a “tailored team” from across a number of its PR and communications agencies to lead the telco’s consumer PR account, enterprise business, sponsorships and sports and entertainment content partnerships.

Telstra has appointed WPP and Attention + Influence to its PR account
Ogilvy PR, Hill + Knowlton Strategies, Pulse Communications, PPR, Burson-Marsteller and Cannings Purple are all WPP AUNZ PR agencies.
Attention + Influence, which was formed in November when Omnicom’s PR Edge and Newsroom merged, will look after Telstra Small Business which includes the Telstra Business Awards and Telstra Business Women’s Awards.
The new agency roster comes five months after Telstra pitched its consumer PR account putting incumbent agencies Edelman and Attention + Influence on notice.
A spokesperson from Telstra told Mumbrella: “Telstra has appointed WPP and Attention and Influence (A+I) to support its domestic and international public relations activity.
“WPP assembled a tailored team from across a number of its PR and communication agencies. WPP will support Telstra’s consumer operations, sports and entertainment content partnerships, key sponsorships and enterprise business.
“A+I retained the PR account to support Telstra Small Business, including the Telstra Business Awards and Telstra Business Women’s Awards.”
WPP and A+I have been approached for comment.

Does Telstra realise that their five-note jingle coincides exactly with Toyota’s? Whenever I hear Telstra’s ad all I hear is ‘Oh what a feeling, Toyota!’ Fail, Telstra! I can’t be the only one to make that connection!
