Telstra’s Belong appoints Howatson + White for strategy & creative, retains OMD for media

Telstra’s lower-cost telco, Belong, has awarded its creative account to Howatson + White. The account was most recently held by Deloitte Digital, which last year released a campaign focused on carbon thumbprints. Prior to that, it was with Clemenger Group, which will continue to work with Belong on PR and retail activation.

The telco is Howatson + White’s second confirmed client for the former CHE Proximity duo Chris Howatson and Ant White, after they launched the agency earlier this year. Last month Allianz was named as its foundation client.

In addition, OMD has retained media for Belong, after a competitive pitch process.

Telstra has decided to remain with the incumbent media agency OMD for media, following the pitch which was confirmed to be taking place in May. Omnicom’s OMD also holds the master media account for Telstra.

A spokesperson for Belong told Mumbrella: “Following a change in leadership at Belong, the challenger brand has recently reviewed its agency roster and can confirm an ongoing relationship with OMD (media) and Clemenger (PR and retail activation).

“In addition to this Belong will shortly be on-boarding Howatson + White as a new partner looking after strategy, planning, creative and CRM.”
