Ten places fifth on Tuesday night in absence of Bachelor in Paradise

Network Ten’s main channel had a 9.2% audience share on Tuesday night which placed it behind Seven (21.7%), Nine (18.6%), Seven’s multi-channel 7mate (10.0%) and national broadcaster ABC (9.3%).

The comparative poor performance of Ten’s main channel can somewhat be attributed to the absence of Bachelor in Paradise – the channel had an 11.2% audience share on Sunday and 12.6% on Monday when the program screened – and the noticeable dive in viewers for Hughesy, We Have A Problem, which plunged 37% from last week’s episode.

Hughesy, We Have A Problem struggled to find viewers last night

The panel show, fronted by comedian and radio host Dave ‘Hughesy’ Hughes, had just 288,000 viewers. The show premiered in January with 632,000 metro viewers, but has steadily declined since then. Last week’s episode had 459,000 metro viewers, and 438,000 viewers tuned in the week before.

Hughesy, We Have A Problem was up against the tail end of Seven’s My Kitchen Rules – which won the night with 1.029m metro viewers – and Andrew Denton’s Interview, which won the 9:00pm time slot with 512,000.

Nine’s Date Night, also at 9:00pm, had just 246,000 viewers.

The Voice on Nine, which was also up against My Kitchen Rules, had 827,000 viewers, while Ten’s offering of back-to-back Bondi Rescue episodes had 302,000 and 294,000.

Ten’s most-watched program for the evening was Ten Eyewitness News, which had 409,000. The second half-hour of The Project was well ahead of its earlier segments – with 408,000 tuning in for 7pm, but just 283,000 at 6:30pm.

The success of 7mate was largely due to its AFL offerings, with the Melbourne Demons and Richmond Tigers match pulling 464,000 metro viewers and the post-match programming securing 322,000, according to OzTAM’s overnight preliminary metro ratings.

The next closest competitor on the multi-channels was Floogals – an animated program about curious aliens experiencing suburban life on Earth – on ABC Kids, which had 198,000 viewers.
