The Chaser meet their spiritual father
It’s not often you’ll see The Chaser in awe of anyone, but they had a deeply respectful air on Saturday night when they were granted an audience with Chris Morris.
The twisted genius behind the likes of The Day Today, Nathan Barley and Brass Eye was in Sydney for the premier of Four Lions – his somewhat dark comedy about suicide bombers.
Dr Mumbo can report that Julian Morrow pounced the moment Morris walked into the Time Out party, and barely left his side until it was time to go and see the movie.
It was like witnessing a group of siblings meet their father for the first time.
Four Lions looks fantastic. Makes me want to rewatch Brass Eye again.

Brilliant film, very clever and you just can’t help but laugh the whole way through it.
Morris is also brilliant, he did a Q&A at the end and while he wasn’t asked the most interesting questions and had a terrible host (she did all of the SFF announcements I saw) he gave a great insight into the research he did on what these terrorist recruits (and the British army) are really like – everyone should go see.

This is going to be my film of the year. I hope it gets a wide release here. I love Chris Morris, I truly believe he is a comedy genius and with shows like the day to day and brass eye under his belt this film will undoubtedly be a belter.

Morris makes the chaser look like the try hards they are and I reckon if he didn’t have a film coming out he wouldn’t waste his time with them.
Kind of feel sorry that he had to endure them.
