Vibewire announces youth social entrepreneur awards

Youth not for profit Vibewire has awarded six young changemakers in the 6 under 26 Awards.

The announcement:

Youth not for profit Vibewire has announced its inaugural 6 under TwentySix Awards.

The awards are to recognise the six young people who are creating a significant impact or change on their communities through social enterprise projects in 2013.

This year’s winners are from a broad range of backgrounds with a variety of projects, from Indigenous youth empowerment initiatives, sustainable food movements, programs that foster social entrepreneurship skills in High School students, documentary projects that inspire minority communities, to organisations that encourage young women to take up careers in engineering and technology. The one thing all Vibewire finalists have in common is that they’re dynamic, motivated young people who prove that Gen Y care passionately about their world and want to make a difference.

Alexandra Iljadica, one of the 6 Under TwentySix says, “We’re a brave bunch! We need to be equipped with the skills and knowledge of the past, and we need to be included right now in the decision making process.”

Vibewire is running a crowdfunding campaign that aims to Support Two Young Changemakers in kickstarting their projects in 2013. With the Australian community behind the campaign, Vibewire will be able to give two young changemakers the workspace and resources to launch their own social or creative project in 2013.

The target is $6000 by February 23rd.
