When in doubt, lorem ipsum it out

While Dr Mumbo is in no position to lecture others on good social media advertising strategy, he’s enjoying the hot mess of nightlife site Secret Sydney’s attempts to promote this year’s candlelight concert.

For the last few hours, a paid campaign has been running on Facebook featuring classic lorem ipsum placeholder text on top of the video ad. And the public approves.

“I love Latin,” observes Jeff Davenport, while Jennifer Spark adds: Love a bit of lorem ipsum, a real banger.”

There are already dozens of comments on what would otherwise be a pretty prosaic promotion.

Runnie Sinclair-Kydd observes: “Will probably be the best engagement ad they’ve ever had.” Quite.

Sometimes those Canva templates can be a bit too tempting …
