James Barton Ashcroft

James has been engaged, over the last 10 years, in senior executive roles with the George P. Johnson Company as Group Account Director and Imagination as a Senior Executive Producer. Most recently his work has included Australia Day National Maritime Festivals and New Years Eve direction for Newcastle City Council, Australian Open (Tennis) media/marketing activities for Kia Motors Australia and projects for clients with brand activation through live events, exhibitions, media and communications.

James also worked as a Senior Producer, for APEC in 2007, producing the closing ceremony fireworks display over Sydney Harbour, the light-rope display on Sydney Harbour Bridge and on-water activities. He has also worked with clients such as Emirates, IBM, Bentley Motors, Westpac, Qantas, Bupa, Panasonic, the Australian Paralympics Committee and the Australia India Business Council to name a few.

Before a corporate career in the advertising and marketing world, James pursued an interest in competitive sports and has always maintained a passion for performing arts. With a keen interest in theatre and live performance he pursued a career in the music industry and was a founding member of the Australian band ‘1927’ with major hit songs “If I Could”, “That’s When I Think Of You”, “Compulsory Hero” and a multi-platinum #1 album …ish amongst his credits.

James is a recipient of a Variety Club Heart Award, numerous Australian Recording Industry awards and has actively been involved with fundraising in his role as an advisor to the American Women’s Auxiliary and Royal Children’s Hospital Melbourne.
