Daphne Toombs
I am a teacher of languages and literacy with professional qualifications in proofreading and copy editing. I work annually as a marker of national writing tests and as a proof reader of school reports. I am passionate about my native language, English, and its correctness, and this has led me to freelance work in this field. My skills in all areas of English, including both UK/Australian and US spelling, are excellent (I consistently score in the top few percent in any tests).
I volunteer as a proofreader for Project Gutenberg, as evidence of my enjoyment of the task.
I am a regular proofreader of school reports and past proofreader for a local yachting magazine.
Projects I have worked on of late include a website which had been translated from the Turkish, some maths teaching games, and two children’s stories which are published online (see http://einarpetersen.com/doku.php?id=lonelygirl_uk). I also provided storyline advice and feedback for the author of these stories.
I can assure you of regular communication and consultation, accurate work and a fast turnaround time; I am also always happy to re-work anything that should prove necessary, and to send work back in sections. If you wish, I am also happy to complete a sample of your script for you to check my work, and can either simply correct the original text, annotate a PDF document, use track changes in Word, or mark it with standard proofreading marks so that the relevant points can be corrected after checking my suggestions.
