Forgotten After Fifty

The International Advertising Association (IAA) host their next Leadership Event on Wednesday 27 July where industry leaders across research, marketing, media and communications will be exploring the topic of marketing to the 50+ demographic. The marketing community continues to prioritise targeting Millennials but there is a strong opinion that there is a missed opportunity with the over 50 segment, particularly given that in five years one in three Australians will be over fifty and they control nearly half go the nation’s wealth. Furthermore, 94% of people over 50 dislike how ads talk to them and they believe they are overlooked by brands beyond selling retirement, life insurance and funeral plan.

Nick Richardson (Partner of Fifty Not Out) will be leading the session will share valuable insights on how the 50+ market feels about life, including desires and plans for the future, attitudes and concerns, shopping behaviours and technology and media use. He is in good company with Laura Demasi (Director of Research at Ming & Mood Report Ipsos), Russell Tate (Executive Chairman of Macquarie Media Network), Rowena Newman (Head of Media ANZ RB) and Kirsty Muddle (Founding Partner, Cummins & Partners) discussing new opportunities.
