Wireframe Like a Pro: Practical Skills for Beginners in UX
Wireframing is a critical process in the field of User Experience Design. It helps lay out the content, structure, and functionality of a website. To construct a good wireframe, it’s important to consider the user’s needs and journey, so their experience is user-friendly and intuitive.
Think of wireframing as the skeleton and the basis for developing beautiful and fully-functioning web products. Without it, you risk miscommunication and misalignment between teams, which can derail your project and lead to poor UX/UI design.
There are numerous software tools on the market that can help you design and create wireframes for individual or team projects. Tools like Balsamiq and SketchApp, facilitate the sharing and creation of wireframes across multiple teams and users. Any changes made to a project — and at any stage — can be viewed and updated in real-time.
In this introductory workshop, Wireframe Like a Pro, experienced designer, Linh Nguyen will take you through the following topics:
What are wireframes and why do we use them?
The pros and cons of different wireframing methods: analog and digital
The elements of a wireframe
An introduction to the wireframing software Balsamiq
Wireframing templates and online resources
Wireframing practice via sketching and software
What to bring:
Your own laptop
An installed wireframing software (if you don’t have any installed on your laptop, we recommend using Balsamiq)
