Leo Burnett Sydney’s new intern program

Creative agency Leo Burnett and  Diageo Australia  have launched a new program to help students to break into adland.

The announcement:

In an industry first, Leo Burnett Sydney and long-time client and premium drinks business Diageo Australia announce the launch of The Nest, a program offering ambitious and talented students and recent graduates a paid marketing and advertising internship spanning both businesses.

A joint initiative between one of the most awarded client-agency partnerships in Asia Pacific, The Nest will offer the first step on the career ladder, with access to invaluable experience and networking opportunities working with some of the industry’s best creative, strategic and business minds.

The selected interns will undertake 12 weeks of paid work across both businesses – six in the account management team at Leo Burnett and six weeks as part of the brand marketing, planning or innovation teams at Diageo Australia. Designed to identify, foster and reward up and coming talent, The Nest is set to run twice a year.

“I’m excited that this new program will provide avenues for people to embrace and learn about what an amazing career marketing and advertising can be. At Diageo we are custodians to some of the world’s best known brands, including Bundaberg Rum, Smirnoff, Johnnie Walker and Baileys, and we’re proud to drive a strong culture of marketing
excellence. We value the partnerships we have with our agencies and The Nest is a powerful way to build the next generation of marketing professionals to work seamlessly between client and agency,” said Matt Bruhn, Diageo Australia Marketing & Innovation Director.

“We are thrilled about our new internship initiative as it gives those students and graduates starting out the unique opportunity to experience agency culture and also gain an understanding of the client side. For some, The Nest will be the ultimate platform to springboard their careers as they will get exposed to one of the most awarded client-agency
partnerships in Asia Pacific,” said Pete Bosilkovski, Client Services Director Leo Burnett Sydney.

Applications are open now for tertiary students in their last year of study, or those who have recently graduated, in a related field including advertising, marketing, business, design or communications.

The top 20 shortlisted respondents will be invited for an interview with a panel of Leo Burnett and Diageo Australia representatives and four successful applicants will be offered internships.
