2023 federal budget brings in 451k metro viewers for ABC; Seven takes the night

On Tuesday evening, 451,000 metro viewers tuned into ABC to watch the treasurer hand down the 2023 federal budget. However, Seven News was the #1 news program of the night.

On the entertainment front, Seven’s game show The Chase Australia topped the programming with 568,000 metro viewers. It is followed by the network’s reality program, Farmer Wants A Wife, with 568,000 metro viewers.

Home and Away brought in 568,000 metro viewers. Meanwhile, Ten’s MasterChef Australia, launched just last Sunday, brought in 497,000 metro viewers.

MasterChef Australia and Seven News at 6:30 topped the key demo of the 18-49s, Seven News at 6:30 won the 16-39s, and Nine News secured the 25-54s.

Seven Network won the night with a 29.4% share, followed by Nine with 24.2%, Ten with 18.7% and ABC with 18.2%.

The top-rated channel was Seven with a 21.5% share, but the top-rated multichannel was ABC News with 3.6%.

In the latest Daily Consolidated 7 Total TV report for 2 May, Seven News was the #1 program with 1.594 million metro viewers with a 3% uplift, and 46,000 on national BVOD.

The program with the biggest uplift of 74% was an episode of The Good Doctor with 304,000 Total TV viewers and 42,000 on national BVOD.
