360info to launch in Europe via Milan editorial hub

Monash University public interest journalism initiative 360info is set to launch its first European editorial hub after signing a new partnership agreement with Milan’s Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore.

The announcement:

Monash University-hosted public interest journalism initiative 360info is expanding into Europe, signing a partnership agreement with Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Milan.

Under the partnership Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore will fund the establishment of a 360info editorial hub in Milan, joining 360info’s existing hubs operating out of Monash campuses in Caulfield, Indonesia and Malaysia, and at partner universities in Sydney and India.

Monash Acting Provost and Senior Vice-President, Professor Sharon Pickering said 360info’s global expansion was well aligned with the University’s commitment to addressing global challenges for the benefit of communities, whether local, national or international.

“Monash is proud to have been the catalyst for this growing independent voice in the public interest journalism sphere,” Professor Pickering said.

“Since its launch, 360info’s footprint has grown rapidly to become an impactful source of verifiable and reliable information, bringing the value of university research to a global audience.”

360info founder and Editor in Chief Andrew Jaspan, said the new partnership marks the start of the digital news wire’s planned expansions into Europe, Africa and North America to establish a global presence.

“We started 360info with the intent of building a global wire service, in order to better amplify a truly diverse array of expert voices and research-led solutions from around the world,” said Mr Jaspan.

“We’ve now built a solid base in our home region, and in the coming months we will begin to realise that global remit. It’s going to be an exciting few months.”

Launched by Monash in 2021, 360info operates as an independent source of news features, informed by university research, that are provided directly to newsrooms, publishers, broadcasters, schools and civic society for publication through their own outlets. It has published more than 850 articles from 1200 academics from around the world, and its partner universities have grown to include the University of Sydney, University of New South Wales, Manav Rachna University, Shiv Nadar University and O.P. Jindal Global University.
