SBS World Movies switches to Foxtel on Demand

The SBS World Movies subscription channel will cease to be a stand-alone channel from February and shift to Foxtel On Demand, the broadcaster has announced.

SBS World Movies switches linear channel for dedicated offering on Foxtel On Demand 

SBS today announced that from 1 February 2018, the iconic World Movies subscription channel will switch from a Foxtel linear channel to be hosted on Foxtel On Demand, with a weekly movie slot on the pay TV provider’s Foxtel Movies Masterpiece channel.

For more than 22 years, World Movies has showcased the best in international cinema, bringing Australians a diverse selection of award-winning favourites and acclaimed new releases from across the globe, in more than 200 languages.

Hosted as a dedicated film collection on Foxtel On Demand, World Movies will showcase a selection of quality international titles, giving subscribers the freedom to watch at their convenience. World Movies will also continue on Stan, in a renewal of SBS’s agreement with the streaming platform.

Chris Keely, General Manager, SBS Subscription TV said: “SBS is pleased that World Movies will continue as a key film destination on Foxtel On Demand, giving viewers the flexibility to watch some of the best films from across the world anytime, anywhere and on a device of their choice.”

World Movies will move from a linear channel to Foxtel On Demand from 1 February 2018. The World Movies weekly movie slot will air on the Foxtel Movies Masterpiece channel from 3 January 2018.
