And the winner is… Virginia Judge?
NSW Arts Minister Virginia Judge prepared a press release to congratulate “Blacktown-born” Toni Collette on yesterday’s Golden Globe win for her role in United States of Tara, saying that her achievements demonstrate what can result from nurturing an artist’s development. A nice gesture, had she not tried to insert her own work into the equation.
Judge was quick to add, “which is my great passion as Arts Minister”. So, following this logic, the Arts Minister might be considered responsible for the Hollywood achievements of the ‘Toni Collettes’ of the future!
It seems that Collette forgot to thank the Australian Government for their support over the years… or perhaps she simply doesn’t share the view that her achievements can be traced to Government bodies and politicians?
