A puppet Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus feature in new stings for MTV Australia channels
MTV Australia has commissioned a series of spots which feature things like Justin Bieber as a puppet, pole dancers, and an 8bit face off between Taylor Swift and Miley Cyrus, to support the new look MTV Music and MTV Dance.
The 42 spots in the music brand’s campaign were created by Sydney based production company Engine, and play on social media themes such as memes, emoticons and the all-important selfie.
Creative director at Engine, Robert Connelly, said: “Some of the concepts are tongue in cheek, others are just plain silly but all are of the moment and a reflection of youth culture and the MTV audience’s current state of mind.”
The latest creative comes after MTV International announced it is repositioning its brand in an effort to open up the channels to young people.
The ads are designed to work across multiple mediums including TV, print, social media, fashion.
Vanessa Zuppicich, creative director, MTV Brand and Commercial, said: “We were blown away by Engine’s brand pitch for MTV Music and MTV Dance.
“Their approach was very clever, ‘to push boundaries of creativity and experimentation and see what happens’.
“Engine came up with 42 awesome concepts by using the language of today’s millennials and ultimately giving our music channels new personality. The creative is truly inspiring.”
