A tale of two networks for Monday’s ratings

Nine and Seven matched each other virtually shot-for-shot throughout Monday.

Nine’s reality show The Voice won the night with 1.934m viewers according to preliminary overnight metro ratings from OzTAM. Second was Seven’s My Kitchen Rules  with 1.666m.

Nine News (1.384m) narrowly beat Seven News (1.321m).

Nine’s A Current Affair (1.157m) was just ahead of Today Tonight (1.136m).

US Revenge rated 1.116m for Seven compared to Nine’s local drama House Husbands which rated 1.048m.

In early evening, Nine’s Hot Seat (699,000) beat Deal or No Deal (566,000).

In the morning, Seven’s Sunrise (357,000) narrowly beat Today (335,000).

And The Morning Show rated 182,000 for Seven, well ahead of Mornings (143,000) on Nine.

Nine won Monday night with a 27.5 per cent share of the free to air audience compared to Seven’s 26 per cent. But adding in the secondary channels, Seven’s combined channels had a share of 33.5 per cent to Nine’s 32.9 per cent.

In the key demographics, Nine won in 18-49 by 28.3 per cent to Seven’s 27.9 per cent. In 25-54, Nine won by 29.1 per cent to 27.3 per cent. Seven won in 16-39 by 29 per cent to 27.4 per cent.

The two competitive schedules left Ten with little room to manoeuvre. Ten News At Five rated 689,000, The Project rated 527,000 and The Biggest Loser 496,000. Can Of Worms rated just 331,000. Ten had a share of 8.4 per cent, well behind ABC1’s 13.1 per cent.

Ten’s best performance came in 16-39 where it had a share of 11.3 per cent.
