Accenture Song poaches Amazon sales boss for principal director role

Accenture Song has announced that former Amazon sales executive Nick Thomas has joined its team as principal director, commercial investment and operations.

In this newly created position at the creative agency, Thomas will be responsible for leading Accenture Song’s commercial operations and media investment strategy, with the aim to boost client performance and deliver “market-leading value”.

Specifically, the sales expert’s remit covers media operations, trading and the ongoing development of Accenture Song’s technological media ecosystem within Australia and New Zealand, in addition to improving the agency’s scalability, innovation and overall efficiency.

“Accenture Song’s media services team is redefining what this capability looks like in the age of AI. I’m excited to join a team with such bold ambition, exceptional talent, and a clear mission to create transformative outcomes for clients,” Thomas said in a media release.

Thomas’ hiring sees him move on from Amazon Ads ANZ where he was the national sales team’s leader since April 2024.

Before Amazon, he held the position of chief investment officer at Essencemediacom Australia for two years. Thomas has worked with clients in a diverse range of sectors, including entertainment, pharmaceuticals, banking, government, automotive, FMCG, and QSR.

“Nick is a powerhouse in the Australian media industry – a leader with the strategic vision, commercial acumen, and ability to energise teams, which will be pivotal as we accelerate the growth of Accenture Song’s media capabilities,” Melissa Fein, managing director, media at Accenture Song APAC, said in the release.

“A passionate advocate for the intersection of data, technology, and creativity, his expertise in investment, commercial strategy, and technology transformation will be a huge asset to our clients and our people.”

News of Thomas joining the agency comes two days after Accenture Song and the NRMA delivered a brand film designed to elevate the insurance brand’s positioning, “A Help Company”.

Last week, the company revealed that it had appointed Fabio Buresti as managing director of customer strategy and as design and digital products lead.
