Adland draws in TV viewers as ABC’s Gruen tops entertainment, while Nine leads overall share

An episode of ABC’s Gruen has topped entertainment programming for Wednesday evening, brining in 619,000 metro viewers for the public broadcaster, while the Nine Network led total share.

It was a strong night for the ABC, with The Weekly with Charlie Pickering coming in second for entertainment, on 557,000 metro viewers, Seven’s The Chase Australia with 556,000 metro viewers.

In the latest Daily Consolidated Total TV Report for June 8, Match 1 of the State of Origin Rugby League on Nine was the #1 program nationally across linear, with 2.963 million viewers, including 436,000 on BVOD, and an uplift of 18%. The biggest uplift of the week was an episode of Big Brother on Seven with an uplift of 65% and aired to a total audience of 686,000.

Next in entertainment was Ten’s MasterChef Australia, bringing in 554,000 metro viewers, and topping the 18-49 and 25-54 advertising demos. The episode was followed by Seven’s Home and Away, which brought in 475,000 metro viewers, then Nine’s Celebrity Apprentice Australia, which had 439,000 metro viewers and topped the 16-39 advertising demo.

Nine’s Hot Seat brought in 428,000 metro viewers, with the network’s Travel Guides on 359,000 and Seven’s Big Brother bringing in 337,000 metro viewers.

Overall, Seven News was the #1 metro program on Tuesday with 926,000 metro viewers followed by Seven News at 6:30 with 880,000 metro viewers. Nine News had 803,000 metro viewers, followed by Nine News at 6:30 which had an average of 795,000 metro viewers. ABC News brought in 592,000 and Nine’s A Current Affair had 592,000 metro viewers, with ABC’s 7:30 on 155,000 metro viewers.

As mentioned Nine won the night, taking an overall network share of 29.1% over Seven’s 24.6%, while the ABC had a 19.1% share, with Ten on 18.6% of daily share.

Nine also won the primary channel share, and the top-rating multi-channel on Wednesday was 9Gem with a share of 4.%.
