AdNews editor Rosie Baker joins GroupM as group communications director
AdNews editor Rosie Baker is leaving the publication after almost five years to join GroupM as group communications director.
Pippa Chambers, who has been AdNews’ digital editor since October 2014, will replace Baker as editor.
Baker’s exit has prompted a series of promotions at the publication, with senior journalist Arvind Hickman assigned the role of news editor, and journalist Lindsay Bennett – who joined the publication as a cadet in 2015 – promoted to online editor.
After relocating from London, Baker joined AdNews as marketing editor in 2013 and was promoted to editor in October 2014.
She had previously spent five years at Marketing Week in the UK where she was deputy news editor.
Baker said: “Moving to Australia to join AdNews changed my life and I’ve loved every challenge it’s thrown my way. After nearly five years at AdNews it’s time to take on a new challenge. I’m looking forward to using my journalistic background to better communicate GroupM’s values, vision and purpose to internal and external stakeholders.”
In her newly-created role at GroupM, Baker will take responsibility for group’s PR and marketing, as well as bringing an editorial focus to GroupM’s internal and external communications.
She will report to GroupM CEO Mark Lollback and will work across all GroupM agencies including Mindshare, Wavemaker, Mediacom, Essence and [m]Platform.
She will take on Greg Graham’s PR responsibilities, as he focusses on his expanded role at WPP AUNZ.
Mark Lollback, GroupM CEO Australia and New Zealand, said: “Rosie is a highly respected editor and journalist in our industry and it’s brilliant to have someone of Rosie’s calibre joining the Group. Rosie will take our communications strategy to a new level and promote the group with compelling stories that cut through in the marketplace. I’m personally very excited to have Rosie as part of the GroupM family.”
