Advertising Associates appoints Peter Hunter to head up new Sydney office

Independent media agency Advertising Associates has opened its first Sydney office, headed by Peter Hunter.

The agency first launched in Melbourne more than 30 years ago, with the move allowing the firm to elevate its service for national clients.

“It’s an exciting time to be involved with such a progressive stable of long-term clients and adding Peter’s expertise and guidance to the team represents another significant step in bolstering our commitment to delivering a competitive edge for our clients across all media,” said managing director, Brett Carty.

Hunter brings more than 25 years of industry experience to the role, having most recently spent more than four yeas as Amazon’s head of APAC ad tech sales. He has also spent time as national head of business planning for PHD, and was previously managing director of iProspect in Sydney, before being promoted to CEO of iProspect for APAC.

Of his appointment, Hunter said: “This is a role I was exceptionally happy to jump into. I’ve admired the work that Advertising Associates has been doing over many years, and the opportunity to apply my skillset at the coalface and lead a new hungry team with an incredible client such as Kia is right up there. Add to that a love of everything motoring and they had me at hello.”

Carty added: “We’re delighted to have Peter lead our Sydney office. His vast experience across all media, data and ad tech brings another powerful layer of progressive thinking across the agency business in this ever-changing digital landscape.”

The move comes several months after the agency picked up the digital media remit for auto brand Kia Australia, having already landed the business’ above the line media spend in 2020. The agency’s relationship with the brand spans nine years, having worked on Kia’s dealer network advertising from 2014.
