AFA and AWARD members have today unanimously voted in favour of the creation of a new industry body in conjunction with the APG, to be called The Communications Council.
The first meeting of the body’s a transitional Board will take place tomorrow, with the agenda to include the election of a chair, the process of integrating the three founding member organisations, budget planning and strategic priorities.
AFA Chairman, Belinda Rowe, claimed the Council would offer “a more influential, unified and stronger voice on issues affecting our industry and our members’ interests”.
The new body will be supported by the tagline “Commercial creativity and connection”.

The Account Planning Group (APG) did not require an EGM to vote to become a founding member but its membership has also supported the move.
A further statement will be issued following tomorrow’s inaugural meeting.
Details of the merger were revealed last month.
