AFL blockbuster delivers dominant Thursday win for Seven
A perfect storm transpired to deliver Seven a big win on Thursday night, with the last night before Melbourne’s lockdowns ease featuring a blockbuster between Port Adelaide and Geelong.
Seven’s AFL: Thursday Night Football aired with 568,000 metro viewers (and 739,000 nationally), with 321,000 of those in Melbourne and another 118,000 in Adelaide. It was the top-rating non-news program and #7 overall.

The game helped Seven to a 33.9% network share win on the night, ahead of Nine with 22.9%, Ten with 17.9% and the ABC with 17.3%. Seven also had a dominant 22.5% primary channel share.
It was also the #1 program in the 16-39 advertising demographic, with Nine News winning the other two demos of 18-49 and 25-54.
In other entertainment programming, MasterChef Australia brought in 556,000 metro viewers for Ten, while Nine’s primetime offering of RBT and then Paramedics had 416,000 and 321,000 metro viewers, respectively.
Nine’s Hot Seat aired to 530,000 metro viewers, while Seven’s The Chase brought in 505,000 metro viewers.
Seven News was the top-rating news program, and #1 overall on Thursday, with 1.023 million metro viewers tuning in. That placed it ahead of Nine News in second with 1.013 million metro viewers.
The #1 multi-channel on Thursday was 7TWO, with a 5.0% share.
