AiMCO and AMAA CEO announces departure

Josanne Ryan, CEO of the Australian Influencer Marketing Council (AiMCO) and the Audited Media Association of Australia (AMAA), is officially leaving the organisation, with Patrick Whitnall taking on the role of managing director.

With her role finishing up in mid-November, Ryan is leaving her position with AMAA and AiMCO after close to nine years and just over four years, respectively.

When speaking on her departure, Ryan had nothing but positive things to say about her time working with both entities.

“It has been a privilege to lead the AMAA and to work with so many great people from within the industry spanning publishing, the agencies, and other industry bodies,” Ryan said.

“Launching AiMCO with so many talented, innovative people from within the influencer marketing sector has been a true highlight and I look forward to seeing AiMCO thrive and evolve in the future.”

Under her leadership, particularly in the past three years, AMAA’s creation of AiMCO has led to various initiatives aimed at supporting entities within the influencer marketing space, most notably through AiMCO’s Accreditation program, Awards and the body’s Code of Practice.

Jason Tonelli, chair of AMAA, expressed his gratitude at Ryan’s work with AMAA and the impact it has had on the industry.

“For almost nine years, Josanne has led the AMAA with passion and integrity as a tireless advocate for our industry,” he said.

“Amongst her many achievements she leaves a substantial legacy with the establishment of a vibrant and valuable new industry body, AiMCO, along with its impressive Awards and new capability program, AiMCO Accreditation.

“The AMAA Board want to acknowledge and thank Josanne for her wonderful contribution to the advertising industry and for her dedication, professionalism, and leadership throughout. We wish her the very best for her future endeavours.”

Ryan’s departure paves the way for marketing professional, Patrick Whitnall, to assume the role of managing director.

Patrick Whitnall

With prior experience as AiMCO’s co-deputy chair and director at AMAA, Whitnall’s appointment is expected to help bolster AiMCO.

“Patrick stood out as the right choice to take AiMCO forward to the next level. Patrick is an accomplished leader; one that brings talent, creative expertise, drive, passion and an exciting vision for the business,” explained AMAA’s Board.

When asked about his appointment, Whitnall had this to say: “Having been part of the launch of AiMCO, creating the awards program, and serving as Co-Deputy Chair for a number of years, it is a great honour to be asked to take on the role of MD at AiMCO.

“Our awards this year are set to be the biggest yet, and the accreditation program is building and receiving amazing feedback from the attendee cohort and industry. I look forward to working with our members to deliver value to their businesses and to the industry.”
